I forgot to post this a while ago... we had to check out Legends when it opened. Well here it is! We got garlic fries as a side which were really garlicky (good) and not too salty. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak because I haven't had a good one since I left the east coast. This one was yummy and had a lot of grilled flavor. Plus as a side I got beans, flavoured with rum or something like that. I forgot, it was kind of a while ago. They were good though. I sampled the fish and chips as well and they were light and not greasy, if you look at the picture you will see a flaky texture like tempura almost. Well that's it.
I lunched there today with mum after we did a little shopping. We both ordered the soup du jour, our favorite, a Hamakua Mushroom Bisque with parmesan to start with a side of foccacia bread. Speaking of which, here is a recipe to make a delicious Wild Mushroom Bisque of your own. I did try out this recipe, and I had only white and shittake mushrooms and no leeks or shallots, but it turned out wonderfully. Off on a tangent anyways - back to lunch. We polished off our soups and when they set my French Dip down in front of me I was equally stoked but I don't know... it wasn't that great. The meat used seemed to be of low quality because it was quite stringy and there were bits that I just couldn't eat. Mum ordered the fish and chips, which were paired with a delicious salad and was far better by comparison. I still have love for Hilo Bay Cafe.
